Josh Pyser, Ph.D.

Senior Scientist

Dr. Josh Pyser is the Senior Scientist at the Stack Family Center for Biopharmaceutical Education, and Training (CBET). He is responsible for the execution and management of CBET’s contract research projects and expanding the department’s available contract services. Dr. Pyser brings several years of cross-disciplinary contract research experience in fermentation, biocatalysis, and downstream processing to the CBET team, helping to strengthen the group’s technical expertise and scientific knowledge.

Dr. Pyser earned a B.S. in both Chemistry and Biomolecular Science from Clarkson University, then went on to complete his Ph.D. in Chemistry with a focus in Chemical Biology at the University of Michigan. His thesis work involved the development of new biocatalysts for use in organic synthesis, their application in the chemoenzymatic synthesis of fungal natural products, and the subsequent purification and characterization of these novel small molecules. Dr. Pyser is an author of and contributor to several peer-reviewed publications and review articles in the fields of organic chemistry and biocatalysis.
