Bernard Tyrrell, B.S., M.B.A

Director of Industry Fellowships


Bernard Tyrrell presently serves as the Director of the Industry Fellowship Program at Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences/ Center for Biopharmaceutical Education and Training and the Vice President of IPhO National Fellows Community.

Prior to these positions Professor Tyrrell served as the Associate Dean for Pharmacy and Industry Relations and as a Professor of Practice for Clinical and Administrative Sciences within the Keck Graduate Institute School of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in Claremont, California. Mr. Tyrrell had been with KGI since September 2017.

Before serving at KGI he spent 6 years at MCPHS University in Boston. Prior to academia Mr. Tyrrell spent 34 years in the Biopharmaceutical Industry where he worked his way up from a Sales representative to a Senior Vice President.

Mr. Tyrrell is an established Pharmaceutical executive with a passion for driving marketing strategy and business development within specialty medicines.  His record of success is exemplified through his international commercial expertise in Oncology and domestically in Oncology, CNS, Infectious Disease and Metabolism (diabetes and obesity).

In prior assignments, he developed extensive expertise in commercializing new and existing brands within multiple therapeutic areas.  Some of the companies he has worked with include: Eli Lilly, J&J, and AstraZeneca.  

Bernie has long been recognized for significant leadership in commercial endeavors. In this arena he has consistently forged highly productive cross-functional teams, leveraging cultural flexibility, inter-department expertise, and the effective use of resources to accomplish aggressive strategic goals.

Mr. Tyrrell is a Registered Pharmacist.  He earned a BS in Pharmacy from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy.  Bernie holds an MBA in Marketing Management from Bryant College in Smithfield, Rhode Island.
